A pair of former child actors and catalogue models, the Mael brothers - Ron and Russell - are a pop phenomenon. Their first single for Island Records, 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us', shot to number 2 in the UK charts, pre-empting Queen's creation of melodramatic, neo-operatic pop. Several chart-topping singles followed. After collaborating with legendary Donna Summer producer Giorgio Moroder at the end of the 1970's, the Maels served as the blueprint for pretty much every 80s synth-duo with a flamboyant vocalist and an enigmatic keyboard player (e.g. Soft Cell, the Associates and Pet Shop Boys). More chart singles followed including 'Number One Song In Heaven' and 'Beat The Clock'. More recently (2006) Sparks have enjoyed renewed chart success. with singles 'Perfume' and 'Dick Around' (the US edition of Dick Around included live tracks recorded earlier that year in Los Angeles).
